Elon Musk and his cyborg dragon tweet
On the 25th April 2018, Elon Musk tweeted the following:
Oh btw I’m building a cyborg dragon
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 25, 2018
Us, being interested in all things dragon-related, could not pass up the opportunity to think about this for a while. With hundreds of thousands of likes and many retweets what exactly does Elon Musk mean when he said he is building a cyborg dragon? Is this another of his little games? Is this a serious project that he is building? Is this a clever way of advertising his infamous flamethrowers?
Now, according to Wikipedia and to many films and comic books that I have enjoyed, the definition of a cyborg is thus:
“A cyborg (short for “cybernetic organism”) is a being with both organic and biomechatronic body parts.”
This means that Elon Musk must have a real dragon hidden away somewhere that he is currently upgrading with mechanical parts. This got us very excited. A real dragon! Awesome.
After many hours of speculation, theorisation, and making cyborg dragon figures out of sheets of paper and drinking straws we got tired and had to lie down, however far cleverer people than us have come up with some excellent theories, our favourite being the geniuses at Science News – Want to build a dragon? Science is here for you.
Whatever Elon Musk is planning, I’m sure it’s going to be as fantastic as his other projects. I’m a big fan of Tesla cars and SpaceX is simply incredible. Please do build a cyborg dragon, Mr Musk. I’m here for financial support if you need it!
